Prince William gave a speech in which he mentioned his father, who had cancer, and his wife, Kate Middleton, who had undergone surgery.
Prince William spoke at a gala dinner in support of the London Air Ambulance charity in London and mentioned his cancer-stricken father, King Charles III, and wife Kate Middleton, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery.
I would like to take this opportunity to also thank you for your kind messages of support to Catherine and my father, especially in recent days. This means a lot to all of us. It's fair to say that the last few weeks have been rather "medical". I thought I'd come to the air ambulance reception to take my mind off it all," William said. In his speech, he also thanked actor Tom Cruise, who was also present at the event.
Meanwhile, royal experts continue to analyze whether there is hope for reconciliation between Prince Harry and his family amid news about the king's health. "The whole situation changed with the news of cancer. The fact that the king received a diagnosis that millions of people know is life-threatening changed the entire relationship between the royal family and the Sussexes," the insider says, noting that Charles' call to his youngest son and his visit to Great Britain, albeit very short-lived, gives hope for reconciliation.
However, tensions between Harry and William do not appear to have eased: during his visit, Harry did not see his brother or visit his wife Kate Middleton, who is recovering from surgery. "William showed today that he has disowned Harry and doesn't want to know him. Harry is simply no longer a part of his life," says the insider.
"This rift is very deep right now, and that's evident by the fact that Harry is here and they're not dating. It's so deep that it's really unclear if it can ever be mended."
