Alyssa Milano responds to accusations that she "kicked" Shannen Doherty out of Charmed
During a meeting with fans of the series “Charmed” at the Megacon festival in Orlando, Alyssa Milano commented on the accusations against her that it was because of her that Shannen Doherty was fired from the project.
Let us recall that Holly Marie Combs announced Milano’s involvement in Shannen’s dismissal in December last year. Speaking to fans, Alyssa said she was very sad that this scandal was not affecting her life so much as it was affecting the people who watched the show and to whom it meant a lot. “This toxicity, which is still present a quarter of a century later, has tarnished the project. It makes me sad that people can't just leave it all behind. It’s sad that we can’t just celebrate the success of the show,” the actress shared her thoughts.
She admitted that working on the series was difficult and that she has spent the last 25 years trying to heal from many traumas, including those associated with “Charmed.” However, the actress said that she would like to be on stage with Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs, because she feels that she has already apologized for the role that she may have played in the whole situation. “This is an inconvenient detail that I would like to change. So I apologize to everyone who loves us,” Milano said, and her statement was met with loud applause.
Later on her Instagram*, Alyssa added that she did not have enough power to fire anyone. “Everything is documented. The show had a professional mediator and producer brought in to look into all the complaints. This mediator, after gathering evidence from the cast and crew, said changes needed to be made so the show could go on. The studio and Aaron Spelling decided to protect the popular project. But it was not in my power to fire anyone. After Shannen left, we filmed five more successful seasons, for which I will always be grateful,” the actress wrote.
One of the producers of Charmed, Krista Vernoff, supported Alyssa in the comments: “There was definitely a lot of bullying on set. And you weren’t one of the bullies.”
To put an end to this whole story, Alyssa also reiterated that the series has long been history and that it is better to leave all differences in the past: “For me, it was 15 films and 13 TV projects ago, 11 years before my 15-year marriage and 13 years before the birth of my first child.” She wished Shannen, Holly and Rose (McGowan) “peace and light in their personal and professional lives” as they all have “worse demons to fight.”
Recently, the name of Alyssa Milano has often been mentioned in the media in connection with scandals. Thus, the actress was recently criticized because she announced a fundraiser for her son’s baseball team to travel to competitions in Cooperstown. This resulted in online bullying of her child.
