58-year-old supermodel Paulina Porizkova showed scars from a recent hip replacement surgery. The 90s catwalk star posted a selfie in underwear on her Instagram*.
The model also shared with subscribers honest photos of what her hips look like just a week after surgery. Paulina said that she was worried about the scars, so when choosing a surgeon, she “paid attention to how he makes the incisions” and whether he had experience using the “bikini” incision technique. It is this technique, consisting of two small horizontal seams along the hip line, that is the most popular. It allows the patient to subsequently hide the scars under underwear, which will make the consequences of the operation less noticeable.
“When I was getting ready for surgery, I couldn’t help but think about the scars. I accept the ones I have, but I had no desire to get new ones. During our vacation, I said goodbye to the smooth skin on my thighs, even feeling guilty for my vanity ", wrote Porizkova.
As a result, two doctors worked on the operation. Paulina turned to orthopedic surgeon Roy Davidovich, who had previously replaced one of actor Alec Baldwin's hips, because he was "someone who regularly does bikini cuts." The doctor was "completely agreeable" to having another plastic surgeon from New... York's Pierre Saadeh "stitched up the cuts."
"I know that the cuts will soon become a part of me. They will remind of old pain and new victories. They will join all the other scars on my body and mind - both visible and invisible - and they will all eventually become glue, holding me together, a mesh of past fractures that have healed stronger,” Paulina added.
Previously, the supermodel told how she managed to avoid gaining weight during menopause. And in October last year, Paulina posed topless for two covers of fashion magazines Vogue and Elle.
