Rumors about Prince William's affair with Marchioness Rose Hanbury are again being discussed in the media
Writer Omid Scobie, who named Kate Middleton among those who made racist comments about Meghan Markle's son, in his new book also touched on the topic of Prince William's alleged affair with Marchioness Rose of Hanbury. He spoke about this in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
An alleged romance between Prince William and his wife's ex-girlfriend Kate Middleton is picking up steam again after royal expert Omid Scobie tackled the topic in his new book, Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Struggle to Survive. (Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival), writes the tabloid. “Unfortunately, if you don’t deny rumors, they can fly 20 circles around the world before you even think about how to comment on them. William and Kate have never commented on rumors about this affair, so these rumors will never go away, even if there is no reason to believe that they are true,” Scobie said.
He continued: "I was very careful in the book to really focus on that, as well as the allegations against William, Kate and their relationship with Rose Hanbury. For legal reasons, there are so many things we can't go into, but I thought this was really important, even if it's just rumors. And I really don't see any evidence that there is anything more behind this than just gossip."
Rumors of a romance between Prince William and Rose Hanbury - one of Kate's closest friends - first surfaced in April 2019 after a British tabloid first spread the rumor. Around the same time, Kate was seen appearing to give Rose the cold shoulder during an outing, which only added fuel to the fire. Rose Hanbury attended the coronation of King Charles III in early May this year, although she was not photographed with Catherine William.
Omid Scobie said he "was really interested in analyzing how the palace dealt with these rumors." "These rumors will have a great negative impact on William's reputation. We still see them regularly on social media... I think it's incredibly damaging to William. This all looks even worse if we assume that Prince Harry was "thrown under the bus" just to divert attention from these scandalous rumors,” he said.
Rose Hanbury is married to David Cholmondeley, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, who is 23 years older than her. Hanbury was a longtime friend of William and Kate and attended their wedding in 2011. Hanbury's 13-year-old son, Lord Oliver, also served as an honorary page at the coronation of William's father, King Charles III, in May. When rumors of William's infidelity first surfaced, a source told Us Weekly in June 2019 that the rumors inspired William and Kate to work on their marriage.
