"Still my best friend." Laysan Utyasheva about Irina Viner’s criticism of her
Laysan Utyasheva commented on the air of the show "Vlobushkin" harsh words addressed to her from the head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner. In an interview, Wiener criticized her former pupil.
“If you endlessly pat a person on the head and say: “Well done, well done!”, even if he is not well done, he becomes a weakling. This happened with Utyasheva. She was used to being the best,” said Wiener, adding that when Laysan “came to the national team and saw that she was not the best, she could no longer help herself.”
Utyasheva, however, does not hold a grudge against her mentor and believes that Wiener never says anything just like that.
"She can only speak on the matter. For example, that I trained a lot. This was not necessary, I absolutely support this,” she said. “I would also say to myself that I trained too much.” And this is still my best friend."
Previously, Utyasheva said that Wiener supported her when she could not get pregnant.
Former students, however, often talk about Wiener’s tough character. For example, gymnast Yana Kudryavtseva said that Wiener first treated her to cheesecakes, but after the defeat she remembered it.
