In a new interview with American GQ, the singer admitted that his and Haley's first year of marriage was a real test of strength. Justin, who proposed to the model just three months after the final breakup with Selena Gomez, said that at first he and his wife did not trust each other at all.

The first year of marriage was really hard for us, because we had a lot of psychological trauma. There was just a lack of trust between us. This is when you really do not want to admit everything to the person you are next to, because you are afraid of his reaction. Bieber admitted that he immediately felt that the creation of a family, marriage and children — this is his true purpose. He also added that Hayley is not ready to give birth in the very near future, but expressed confidence that this will definitely happen in the future. He also admitted that it was only after marrying Hayley that he finally found stability in his life.:

We just build a couple, a family, create our own memories. And it's great that we have something we're looking forward to. I didn't have any expectations of life before. I had no soulmate, no one to love and no one to pour out my heart to.
