Actress Katie Leung, who played the girl Harry Potter, told about the harassment during filming
33-year-old American actress of Chinese origin Katie Leung, familiar to viewers from the role of Zhou Chang in the Harry Potter films, said that she faced racial bullying while working on the famous franchise. She told about this the other day during the podcast Chinese Chippy Girl.
Leung said that it all started when the public became aware of her participation in the film before the start of filming.
It got into the papers. And then someone took a picture of me. I just broke down. I was sobbing,

After her photo was posted, Katie, who was a teenager at the time and in high school, started receiving a lot of negative messages from haters.
At some point, I started Googling myself and went to the "Harry Potter"fandom. I remember reading all the comments and it was full of racist shit. And then someone created a hatter's website, which offered to click on the button if you do not agree with the choice of the actor. This is terrible,
- she shared.

Leung contacted her agent about the online harassment, but he advised her not to talk about it to the press.I remember being told: "Look, Katie, we haven't seen these sites that people are talking about. And if they ask you, just say it's not true. Tell me this isn't happening.",
she remembered.
Whether this was Katie's personal agent or whether he worked for Warner Bros. is unknown.
Looking back, Katie now wishes she had made the story public at the time.
Of course, I was very grateful. I was really very grateful to be in the position I was in. But what happened then was, to put it mildly, not very pleasant,
she concluded.
