Details of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's move to the US have become known: "It's harder than they could have imagined"
While 36-year-old Prince Harry is just preparing to write his own memoirs, royal experts are publishing details of some periods of the life of the Dukes of Sussex in interviews and biographies. Writer Omid Scobie and royal reporter Carolyn Durand are reissuing their bestseller "In Search of Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Creation of a Modern Royal Family" (Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family). The authors told about the idea of Meghan and Harry to give up royal duties, the details of their move to the United States and about independent life abroad in an interview with People magazine.
The most difficult thing for them was to decide to take the first steps aside. There was no question of sitting on two chairs — the queen would not have allowed such an approach,
- Omid Scobie told about the first attempts of the couple to declare their freedom. Speaking about the move and the rejection of royal roles, the expert stressed that the couple was not ready for such trials.
It was harder than they could have imagined,
Omid Scobie told People.
At the same time, the author claims that the move had a positive impact on the well-being of the family of the Dukes of Sussex, since in the UK, continuing to perform the duties of members of the royal family, they would not have received the freedom they dreamed of.
They were trying to find a way to compromise. But would it allow them to achieve the level of happiness and security that they have today? Probably not. These ties with the institution [of the monarchy] would still be strong, and there would be constant problems related to financial initiatives and the business decisions they make,
- the author summarized. However, he did not specify what is the cause and what is the effect. After all, if the couple Meghan and Harry did not have to take care of finances, there might not have been any commercial projects that now abound in their lives. The Dukes of Sussex recently signed a long-term contract with Netflix to create documentaries and feature films and series. One of the first projects of Meghan Markle will be the children's animated series Pearl ("Pearl"), which is already being worked on.
Recall that for the first time the royal couple announced their decision to abandon royal duties in January 2020 due to the invasion of their privacy by the British media. After moving to the United States, Meghan Markle and Harry gave a sensational interview to Oprah Winfrey, in which they revealed other reasons that contributed to their move. In fact, they accused the members of the royal family of racism, because during Markle's first pregnancy, they were worried about what color the baby's skin would be. The Duchess said that while in the royal family, she experienced moments of severe depression and even thought about suicide.
The family currently resides in Montecito, California. The couple has two children — a two-month-old daughter, Lilibet Diana, and a two-year-old son, Archie.
