Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman pose for Vogue in 'Old Hollywood' looks
Blake Lively, who made a splash the day before by replicating Britney Spears' iconic look, graced the cover of Vogue's September issue. The 36-year-old actress was joined in the shoot by her colleague and close friend Hugh Jackman.
Blake and Hugh posed for the legendary director and photographer Baz Luhrmann. The actors tried on looks in the spirit of "old Hollywood", inspired by characters from Alfred Hitchcock's horror films and the looks of actresses from 1960s films - from Brigitte Bardot and Veronica Lake to Grace Kelly.
In the shoot, Blake transformed into a fictional character, a jewel thief nicknamed Cat, and tried on outfits by Michael Kors, Balenciaga, LaQuan Smith, Jacquemus, Dolce & Gabbana, and Louis Vuitton. In one of the shots, the actress holds a Cartier necklace decorated with rubies, which belonged to Grace Kelly's friend and actress Elizabeth Taylor. Hugh Jackman "played" L'Ombre, the man who drives Cat crazy. The actor posed in looks by Ralph Lauren, Charvet, Tom Ford, and Bode.
In an interview with the publication, the Gossip Girl star and Ryan Reynolds' wife admitted that she doesn't like to be photographed for magazines and feels uncomfortable in front of the camera, and that in recent years her life has become "more private." "I'm a very shy person, so I don't like to participate in photo shoots. Because when I'm filming, I'm playing a character. And I don't feel comfortable in front of the camera. That's one of the reasons why I don't want to be in magazines. This is, I think, my first cover in four years."
Hugh Jackman spoke to Vogue about his friendship with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, with whom he spends a lot of time following his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness. "They're megastars. They're old-school megastars. I've spent many hours with them, in my pajamas, just being in their house with their 900 kids and dogs. And it's as cool as it gets. [While] Blake will be baking and saying, 'Let's make a pizza,' and then you turn your head and there she is, dressed for an event, looking like a superstar. It's just mind-blowing to me."
"She says she's shy," Hugh continues, "and I believe that. I think she has a shyness. Nicole Kidman has it and so do others. There's a shyness, and that leads to the ability to shapeshift and change shape. And one minute she's, like I said, in her pyjamas, and five minutes later she's Elizabeth Taylor! At the height of her beauty. And you're like, 'What? How?' And it's wonderful."
