Britney Spears Threatened to Sue Singer Halsey Over Music Video Based on Her Life, Then Walked Back
Britney Spears has threatened to sue singer Halsey over her new video Lucky. The thing is that the video, like the song itself, is inspired by Britney's personal and creative life.
Among other things, the video shows moments of the clip's heroine arguing with her loved ones, her problematic relationship with her lover. In addition, Halsey herself appears in an iconic translucent outfit, similar to the one Britney wore in the Toxic video. And in some scenes, she sits with a shaved head while she is given an IV drip - this is a clear reference to Spears' psychological problems and the period when she was under the care of her father Jamie. Although Halsey herself shaved her head several times due to health problems.
Shortly after the video was released, Britney took to social media to express her outrage. She wrote that she was very upset and felt like she was being bullied because Halsey portrayed her as a “superficial pop star who has no heart and doesn’t care about anything.” She also stated that she was already talking to lawyers about filing a lawsuit because she was treated so cruelly.
However, soon this post of Britney disappeared from her social networks, and a new one appeared in its place. In it, the singer says that she loves Halsey, and someone else wrote from her phone. Now Spears fans are wondering what it was. According to one version, the pop star was asked to delete the post by her managers to avoid a scandal. According to another, Britney simply changes her mind at the speed of light.
Meanwhile, Halsey has already responded to the incident. Replying to Spears' updated post, she wrote: "I love you too, Britney! Always have and always will. You are the first person who taught me what it means to be inspired by someone. And you continue to inspire me every day."
Earlier in June, Halsey opened up about her secret battle with lupus and leukemia.
