Andrew Garfield's girlfriend, Kate Thomas, who calls herself a professional witch, has complained about bullying because of her relationship with the Hollywood actor. She told the Sunday Times about this.
Garfield, 40, and Thomas, 42, have been dating for several months, but their romance has already caused quite a stir online: Garfield's fans are criticizing his lover for her appearance, age, and occupation. The fact is that Oxford graduate Kate Thomas is now into mysticism and fortune telling with Tarot cards, and calls herself "a spiritual mentor with over 23 years of experience." 
"They [photographers] will take maybe 150 pictures and then pick the four that look the worst on you," Kate said in an interview, adding that what she finds most distressing is "the misogynistic nature of it - the criticism of how a woman looks, what she does for work."
"It upsets me that no matter how successful or influential a woman is, it will always be more interesting if she is in a relationship with a man. I don't want to sit in someone's shadow," added the actor's beloved.
She admitted that after the affair began, she received a huge amount of criticism and never thought she was "that ugly." "Nothing could have prepared me for literally thousands of women telling me I was ugly, unattractive, the worst in every way imaginable."
Kate Thomas is a spiritual mentor in Los Angeles, New York, and London who uses tarot cards in her practice. Born in the UK, she began giving tarot readings at the age of 17 in a "tiny room above a crystal shop" in Glastonbury. Two years later, she began her "spiritual apprenticeship," and soon earned a PhD in Catholic theology at Oxford and an MA in the philosophy of religion. Thomas's reputation grew, and celebrities began to recognize her: in the 2000s, Thomas consulted for a modeling agent who then introduced her to supermodels, and another client, a PR specialist, sent her celebrity clients. Today, many Oscar-winning actors and employees of large companies come to her for readings.
At 30, Kate was diagnosed with ADHD and autism, and she also has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (a degenerative genetic disorder). Kate Thomas has been married four times and is currently in the process of divorcing a photo producer.
Kate Thomas and Andrew Garfield first became rumoured to be dating in March this year, when they were spotted hugging each other on a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham in Malibu. In recent months, the couple have been living together in Kate's cottage in central Wales, which she put up for sale to move to London to be with the actor.
