Rihanna is the new face of Dior's J'Adore fragrance, replacing Charlize Theron
Rihanna has become the new face of J'Adore Dior perfume. The singer replaced Charlize Theron, who was the ambassador of this fragrance for more than 20 years.
The Dior fashion house announced the news of Rihanna's appointment by publishing a photo of the singer on its Instagram*. "Since its creation in 1999, J'Adore has always stood for strong and inspiring women. Rihanna is the queen of our times, an inspiring figure and a symbol of female empowerment," Veronique Courtois, CEO of Parfums Christian Dior, said in a statement. The first advertising campaign featuring the singer will be released on September 1.
"Being the new face of J'Adore is both an honor and a mission. This fragrance that I have known and loved for so long means so much to women. I am looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my history, my roots, as well as through my creativity and my understanding of femininity," the 36-year-old singer commented on her appointment.
In 2004, former creative director of Dior John Galliano invited actress and his muse Charlize Theron to become the new face of the J'Adore fragrance, who replaced model Tiu Kuik. In her 20 years as a fragrance ambassador, Theron has appeared in numerous commercials and campaigns.
