French Vogue has been criticized online for choosing American Gigi Hadid instead of a French model for the cover of a special issue dedicated to the Paris Olympics. Gigi herself also got into trouble: haters thought that the model was "not in good shape" to be filming for a cover story dedicated to sports. The situation was not saved by the fact that the promo video dedicated to the issue featured not only Gigi, but also French actress Isabelle Huppert. 
“French female athletes also exist”, “Wasn’t there an athlete who represented the French team? Why should we always see the same model on the cover? Shouldn’t fashion be updated?”, “She is not an athlete and is not at all elegant, bad choice,” people write under the magazine’s Instagram post*.
It is worth noting that Gigi and her sister Bella often face criticism online. Some accuse them of being nepo babies and achieving everything solely thanks to the fact that they are promoted everywhere. Gigi is also often criticized for her figure, with many believing that she is not slim enough to be a model.
Recently, the sisters' careers have been under threat - the reason for this was the political position of Hadid, who spoke out in support of Palestine in the conflict with Israel. According to rumors, Gigi’s high-profile romance with Bradley Cooper, which, according to insiders, is becoming “more and more serious,” is in fact only for the sake of PR and is needed precisely in order to rehabilitate Gigi’s career.
