"I love my children, but career-wise they've ruined everything." Lily Allen says motherhood ruined her career
Lily Allen, who was once one of London's most famous party girls and a popular pop singer, told the Radio Times podcast that her children robbed her of her career. According to the 38-year-old singer and actress, women should immediately decide whether they want to have a family or a career, and condemned those who claim that all this can be combined.
"My kids ruined my career. I love them and they complete me, but in terms of my career as a pop star, they completely ruined everything," she says.
According to Allen, it is impossible to combine everything and lose nothing. “It really annoys me when people say you can have it all, because frankly you can’t.”
According to her, there are people who choose to pursue a career, but this affects their children. "Some people choose careers over children, and that's their prerogative, but my parents were absent when I was a child. I feel like it left terrible scars that I don't want to repeat on my children." Lily Allen's father, actor Keith Allen, left her mother, film producer Alison Owen, when Lily was four years old.
Lily herself has two daughters - 12-year-old Ethel Mary and 10-year-old Marnie Rose - with her ex-husband Sam Cooper. She is now in a new marriage - with Stranger Things star David Harbour, whom she married in 2020. 
"I decided to take a step back and focus on my children," Lily Allen added, noting that she was happy about it because "they are quite well-rounded." At the same time, she released her last studio album in 2018, but after her second marriage she began to try herself as an actress.
A few months ago, insiders reported that Lily Allen and David Harbor had separated, but this information was not confirmed.
