Actress Léa Seydoux appeared on the cover of the April issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine and spoke about how difficult it is for actresses to grow old in Hollywood: their appearance becomes a commodity, and they, according to Seydoux, lose their freedom.
"The industry in America... I think it's very harsh on women. It's hard for women to grow old," says the French actress. "I don't want to be afraid of being unwanted or losing contracts. In America, it's all about economics, and when it comes to making money, you lose freedom." 8400[/img]
According to 38-year-old Lea, everything is much simpler in Europe. "I'm not happy with the fact that you have to fit all the requirements. It's much easier to be a woman on screen in Europe."
One of the latest projects in which the actress appeared was the second part of the film “Dune” by Denis Villeneuve, where she played along with Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and Anya Taylor-Joy.
“I’m very happy with the roles that I’m getting. But, in my opinion, in Hollywood cinema it’s difficult for a person who is not completely American,” Lea said.
She noted that acting is not very comfortable for her. "It's not very pleasant, but I have to say that it all makes me feel alive. I use my fear and turn it into something tangible. And fame is not something that is constantly present in my life. Sometimes I’m very surprised that people look at me on the street, and then I’m like, “Oh, yes, I’m a star.” But on the other hand, they don’t look at me that often. I can easily travel by train or bus.”
The topic of aging in Hollywood has recently become more and more controversial. Despite the popularization of natural aging, more and more Hollywood actresses are facing criticism because of their appearance. In an effort to preserve youth, many - for example, Nicole Kidman or Madonna - decide to undergo interventions by surgeons and cosmetologists, which is why they then again face criticism.
