The 79-year-old Squid actor faces a year in prison for sexual assault.
79-year-old actor Oh Yeon-soo, known for his role in the TV series "Squid Game", faces one year in prison for sexual assault. This is the time limit requested by the South Korean prosecutor's office. Yonhap agency reports this.
A complaint against the actor who played player No. 001 was filed by a certain woman, whom in 2017 he “inappropriately hugged,” “touched her body,” and kissed her on the cheek without permission. The actor was officially charged with sexual harassment in November 2022. He himself denies his guilt. “When I get judged for something like this at this age, I feel pain, I feel like my whole life is falling apart,” he said during the Feb. 2 court hearing. The actor's sentence will be announced in March.
The first season of The Squid Game was released in 2021 and was extremely popular. Oh Yeon-soo received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the series.
The second season of “The Squid Game” will be released in 2024, in which the winner of the game, Song Ki Hoon, promises to reveal the organizers of the deadly competition. Netflix previously presented a teaser for the second season.
