Angelina Jolie said she developed Bell's palsy due to stress following her divorce from Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie admitted in an interview with WSJ that her scandalous divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016 led to severe stress and health problems. She said she was diagnosed with Bell's palsy in 2017, a neurological condition that temporarily paralyzes one side of the face.
“My body reacts very strongly to stress. My blood sugar levels go up and down. Six months before the divorce, I suddenly developed Bell’s palsy,” Jolie admitted. She mentioned this when talking about her fear about working on the upcoming Maria Callas film.
“Sometimes women who have families put themselves last until it affects their own health,” Angelina added, noting that acupuncture helped her cope with the disease.
Jolie met Brad Pitt in 2005, when they starred in the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” and began dating, although the actor at that time was married to Jennifer Aniston, whom he soon divorced. Pitt and Jolie got married in 2014, but the actress filed for divorce in 2016 after a serious argument on board a private jet. After this, Jolie accused him of violence against her and the children. After the separation, they spent many years resolving issues related to custody of six children, three of whom are adopted, and the Chateau Miraval winery.
